A good guide, for consumers

Consumer services guide

What are we really eating? Or using?

These are questions for all of us, as consumers. It could be useful to have a guide for the products we consume.

Online, there's GoodGuide. It provides reliable information on the health, environmental and social impacts of consumer products, in order to help consumers make purchasing decisions toward products that are healthy, green and socially responsible. Founded in 2007 by Dara O'Rourke, professor of environmental and labor policy at the University of California at Berkeley, GoodGuide is incorporated as a "for benefit" organization.

Here are the categories (food, personal care, household chemicals, toys) and this are the brands. The ratings are developed using a methodology that is grounded in the sciences of informatics, health and environmental risk assessment, life cycle assessment and social impact analysis.
