Nanotechnology: the future for many scientific areas.

Time for Nano is a project funded by the European Commission. It aims to stimulate the general public – with a special attention for young people – on benefits and risks related to nanoscale research, engineering and technology.

How? Through specific informal education projects. An example is the Time for Nano Video Contest. The competition will award the most creative, scientifically sound and provoking student-produced videos on the dilemmas about nanotechnology, with money prizes. The contest is open between february,1 and june, 1, 2010 and the participants must have between 14 and 20 years of age. The countries involved in this project are: Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, United Kingdom. Participants living in any other European country may participate by choosing a country of reference among the nine listed. English is the common language. Videos can be made with any device, excluding professional equipment, with a maximum duration of 4 minutes. The entries must be about the following main themes: health, nano-divide, food, human enhancements, environment. Full rules: here.
